TRIP OVERVIEW

A village that lies in the Kaski district of Gandaki Province of Nepal, Ghandruk is one of the most popular destinations for both national and international tourists. Situated at a distance of 32 km north-west of Pokhara, it is a mountain village in the Modi Khola village at around 2000 meters. The village is readily accessible by public buses and private taxis from provincial headquarters. Ghandruk provides the best views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Hiuchuli, and Machhapuchhre and it serves the taste of ethnic Gurung culture and traditions. 

The village is major recruitment for the famous Gurkha soldiers and is the hub of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, which provides many varied ecological projects. There is also an old Gurung museum in the village. Ghandruk is the commonplace for treks in the Annapurna range of Nepal, Annapurna Base Camp, and Annapurna Circuit particularly and it is also the gateway to the Poonhill. The trek to Ghandruk is favorable for those who are looking for shorter heights around Pokhara with easy trekking trails with no difficult ascends or descends.

    Ghandruk is not only a destination to go for a trek, people also visit Ghandruk in their leisure or to spend time with their friends and family. It is a destination which can be traveled at any time of the year but if you want to experience the best view then the Spring and Autumn seasons are the best as during these seasons, the views of mountains can be seen clearly and you won’t have to experience the chilly and foggy weather as well.

Itinerary

We will arrive in Kathmandu and do some sightseeing the same day. We will also start packing our stuff for a trek starting the next day.

We will start our trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara which takes around 6-7 hours of drive and stay overnight at pokhara.

After early morning breakfast, we will take a drive from Pokhara to Phedi and from where our hike starts. We will start taking a walk from Phedi and the trail ascends towards the village called Dhampus, have lunch and take a walk to Pothana and spend the night.

We will start our 2nd day hike from Pothana to Ghandruk after having early morning breakfast. We will walk through Landruk and then cross the bridge of Modi Khola and start ascending towards Ghandruk via Gurung village. After reaching Ghandruk with a panoramic view of himalayas, we will go for a sightseeing, Gurung museus and spend the night at Ghandruk.

Early in the morning, we will start our hike towards Nayapul after having breakfast. We will ascend via Landruk and then descend towards Pothana and then Nayapul. Our drive will be waiting for us at Nayapul and then we will drive back to Pokhara.

After having breakfast, we will start our drive or take a flight to Kathmandu.

After having breakfast we will transfer you to International Airport for final departure

FAQs

Trek to Ghandruk is one of the shortest treks of Nepal, however it still can be extended with the availability of your time.

No special permit or TIMS card is required to go for a trek to Panchase. And according to the information office, if you go to Kande then the permit is needed as it is located inside the national park, otherwise nobody checks for a permit to go upto Australian Base Camp.

Any time of the year is favourable to go for a Ghandru trek but for the better experience Autumn and Spring seasons are more appropriate to travel as you will get to see the view of mountain ranges.

Ghandruk trek is not so difficult and is good for those who do not have much more experience in trekking

Yes the wifi is available in many parts of the trek

You may choose according to your own convenience, you may either bank transfer, credit card, western union or choose other options.

There are no banks or atm or money exchange to the higher points of the trek. If you want to carry extra cash for extra expenses then you can either withdraw or change from Kathmandu or Pokhara.
